MEET THE THERAPIST

Broulee Massage is passionate about helping clients achieve a deep state of relaxation using a Swedish massage technique to calm the nervous system. Massage pressure and optimal treatment outcomes can be expressed by the client via our prerequisite online client consultation form and also a verbal consultation prior to treatment.

Massage and Cupping therapies may help clients to improve their mobility, flexibility/range of motion, stimulate blood flow and soften tense and stressed muscles, which may also help prevent injury.

Our most recent professional development study was an Advanced Certificate in Traditional and Modern Cupping Therapy (Bruce Bentley - Health Traditions) which has become an integral part of our practice. With a strong focus on working with superficial and deep layers of fascia; cupping therapy has helped to achieve longer lasting results with clients.

AJ started her own massage therapy business in 2013, originally operating out of Ulladulla under the name Alyssa Jane Massage & Fitness. AJ moved the business into Broulee in 2019, where she started Broulee Massage, operating out of a room inside the clinic at Physiotherapy at Broulee within the Train Street Central business hub.

Our favourite treatment to perform is the Prenatal Massage; “I just love working ‘with woman’; being invited to play a small part in the journey of the Prenatal Mother is something very special. Massaging Mum and Bub is a sacred space and in my opinion, a necessary therapy for deep connection and preparation for labour.”

AJ is also currently studying to become a Doula via the Doula Training Academy Australia.

'Doulas are non-medical professionals trained to provide continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a woman and her partner before, during and after childbirth. This can apply to a woman planning a physiological birth, home birth, hospital birth or a planned caesarean. Having a doula present aids both the mother and partner. Obstetricians, midwives and nurses are responsible for monitoring labour, assessing the medical condition of the mother and baby and treating complications when they arise; but birth is also an emotional, energetic and spiritual experience with a long-term impact on a woman’s personal wellbeing. Doulas do not provide any type of medical care; however, they do provide evidence-based information and research to help their clients gain a better understanding of medical procedures and encourage the couple to ask all the right questions to ensure they are making the right choices for their birth'. Source: Doula Training Academy Website - 'What is a Doula?'.
