Hi, I'm AJ.

With over 11 years of experience in the massage industry, I have cultivated a diverse background spanning various therapeutic and clinical environments. Known for delivering treatments characterized by their effectiveness and holistic approach, I take immense pride in upholding this model of care. My methodologies aim to induce a profound sense of relaxation, thereby soothing the nervous system while addressing musculoskeletal concerns.

My repertoire includes Relaxation/Swedish, Remedial Massage, and Cupping therapies, each offering distinct benefits such as improved mobility, enhanced flexibility, increased blood circulation, and alleviation of muscle tension. To ensure optimal treatment outcomes, clients are required to complete an online health history consultation form and undergo a verbal consultation before proceeding with therapy.

I recently completed a Diploma of Remedial Massage through Evolve College in Canberra, enabling clients to now claim private health rebates for Remedial Massage services. Additionally, my expertise extends to Traditional and Modern Cupping Therapy, acquired through an Advanced Certificate program under the guidance of Bruce Bentley at Health Traditions.

Prior to Broulee Massage, I opened my own massage therapy business from home in 2013, originally operating out of Ulladulla under the name Alyssa Jane Massage & Fitness in addition to working in a local Day Spa and physiotherapy clinic. Broulee Massage launched in 2019, working a few humble days a week at the Physiotherapy at Broulee practice. Broulee Massage has evolved into Broulee Health Hub, still situated within the Train Street Central business hub, marking a significant milestone in my entrepreneurial journey. Operating six days a week, the hub not only accommodates my practice but also hosts a team of skilled practitioners specializing in Beauty Therapy, Cosmetic Skin Therapy, and Naturopathy.

Broulee Massage also offers a top of the line Clearlight full spectrum 2 person Sanctuary Infrared Sauna, promoting relaxation and detoxification through its infrared heat, helping to loosen muscles and ease tension. Preceding a massage therapy session, this can optimize the body by enhancing circulation, increasing flexibility, and priming the muscles for deeper relief and relaxation during the massage.

Additionally, I hold supplementary certifications in Pregnancy Massage and Oncology Massage, which I deem essential for ensuring the safe and effective assessment and treatment of clients, tailored to their diverse physiology and pathophysiology.

A bit about Pregnancy Massage. It’s a very special and also challenging time in a woman’s life which creates significant physiological, psychological and structural changes. I have studied this practice as it’s a deep dive into understanding how these changes occur and ultimately how to best support the prenatal mother at that point in time of her appointment. I apply appropriate techniques and styles of application that are suitable for each trimester and I have learnt conditions unique to pregnancy, body changes, best positioning and specialised pregnancy techniques such as myofascial techniques for sacroiliac joint and hip pain in pregnancy with a focus on gluteal and hip muscles. I love working with these amazing new or 2nd, 3rd time Mumma’s! Being invited to partake in a small part of their journey is something very special to me. Massaging Mum (+ bub!) is a sacred space and in my opinion a necessary therapy for deep connection and preparation for labour.

A bit about Oncology Massage. Oncology Massage, in particular, underscores my commitment to adapting tactile therapies to accommodate the challenges posed by cancer and its treatment. Contrary to outdated beliefs, extensive medical research, such as the study conducted by the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2004, highlights the undeniable benefits of massage for individuals undergoing cancer treatment or living with a history of cancer.

I am also currently studying to become a Doula via the Doula Training Academy Australia.

See you on the table.
